The name of Mike's Restoration Studio is the
LA ARTBOX.
Mike, as an art restorer, has this as his working studio, so it is filled with
supplies and projects currently
under restoration. Mike has been in this San Fernando Valley location
for 16 years. He usually greets his clients there, or in
the case of large art pieces, Mike will visit your home or business to give an
estimate on your requested work. Mike's Restoration Studio is NOT
a storefront location so that his rent savings and overhead is passed onto you.
The Working Environment
Mike maintains a library of
reference materials and an online computer so he can research the many
inquiries or questions that may arise. Here is Mike in the
foreground working on a mount. But notice the background is filled with various
materials and supplies.
On the left is another photograph of Mike. He is
working on a detailed piece, but notice again all his supplies: Q-tips, paints, a
cup of coffee, etc.
Also notice in the background are various pieces of porcelain at different stages
of their restoration.
On the right is a photograph of
Mike finishing the restoration of a Serves vase. From this close-up, one
can appreciate the detailed work involved in the profession of art restorer.
Richard
Richard Manness is also on the staff of LA ARTBOX.
Richard is an architect who specializes in residential
remodeling and the design of installations and lighting for fine art. When Mike is away attending classes or giving estimates,
Richard will be at the studio working or assisting clients.
