Pedestals and MountsPedestals and mounts are used to more attractively display an art object. Pedestals can be situated on the floor or on a table. But in either case, they usually elevate the object to a higher level so it can be viewed more easily. Often, they are even made so that the object will rotate 360 degrees so that viewers can appreciate it from all angles. Mounts usually enclose a special piece, such as an award or fragile antique, thus protecting the piece from being handled by too many admirers. They could be mounted on a wall or situated on a table, depending on their shape and size. Pedestals

On the right is the Mark Taper Forum Award which was presented as a "Special Award for Enlightened generosity and Passionate Service." Mike was especially proud to be selected to make this award, and one can see what a careful, meticulous job he did. On the left is The Phoenix Award for the Asia Pacific Museum in Pasadena, California. It is given for Lifetime Contribution to the Arts. Other Interesting Mounts You may recognize the objects in this mount. They are the "Sally Faces" from the movie "The Nightmare Before Christmas".
This is a mount of Roman glass and gold jewelry from the 2nd
Century AD. The glass pieces and four pairs of earrings presented a special problem
in that they needed careful cleaning to reveal the lovely iridescence of each
piece. In addition to creating the most beautiful but subtle display, it was necessary
to make the installation safely and easily reversible. This was done by creating
a special mount for each piece and a special custom hanger for each earring. Below
you can see a close-up of the gold earrings that are in the second row from the
bottom on the right. One can clearly see that Mike and LA ARTBOX are very experienced in designing and making pedestals and mounts. Let them design a beautiful and safe one for your collection.
